RAM Clutches’ modest beginnings date back to 1972. From the back room of an OEM clutch rebuilding operation in Canton, OH, John Norcia and his then partner, Ray Bickar, began designing and building better race clutches for a group of local competitors, who were fed up and demoralized with their clutch performance. At the heart of this program lay the radically new RAM three-paddle ‘Cleaning Lady’ clutch disc. Until this time most racing clutches were constructed of organic materials, which provided neither the durability nor the consistency needed for competition. Though Ram forged ahead with a new poly-encapsulated spring design—pioneered and patented in 1978—the three-paddle disc evolved into the current six-paddle design, and continues to be reintroduced by various clutch specialists long after its original introduction in 1976!
Today with the resurgence of factory muscle cars, RAM is heavily involved in providing clutch solutions such as the Street Dual and hydraulics systems that allow for major modifications to the vehicle, yet still provide good street driveability, which is the premise today for all RAM Street-Strip clutch systems.
Rick’s Camaros is your one-stop shop for 1968 Camaro parts. The 1968 Camaro was a First Generation F-Body Camaro, spanning from years 1967-1969. 1968 included the Z28 Coupe, Super Sport Convertible and Coupe, Rally Sport Convertible and Coupe, and the Standard Convertible and Coupe. The Camaro retained the same general appearance in 1968, but without side vent windows, a restyled center console and secondary gauge package, a more pointed front grille, divided rear taillights, and the introduction of Astro Ventilation, a fresh air-inlet system. Shock absorber mounting was also staggered to resolve wheel hop issues and higher performance models received multi-leaf rear springs instead of single-leaf units.
