Eckler's Hand Laminated or Press Molded Fiberglass Body Parts

Choose from Hand Laminated or Press Molded to repair your fiberglass to near original condition!

The hand laminating process begins with three mils of gel coat sprayed into a female mold to create a smooth outer surface. Next, resin is painted by hand onto the gel coat followed by the "layering in" of three layers of mat and resin. The mat and resin are carefully rolled out with a hand roller to eliminate air bubbles and to assure uniformity. This process allows the creation of unique parts like the one piece front end which is easier to install than the multi-piece units from the factory. This time honored system combined with the use of only automotive grade resins and gel coat produces a beautifully smooth, strong and easy to sand part.

Eckler's Press molded parts are made with a huge hydraulic press which holds large male and female steel tools (known as the molds). Fiberglass mat and resin is placed between the tools and is pressed together under extremely high pressure and heat. This process allows the production of high volumes of parts that are perfectly uniform in thickness and that are smooth on both sides. Press molded parts do not have a gel coat finish though. Parts can also be manufactured using low pressure press molding. This method takes a precisely cut fiberglass mat and places it into a two-piece closed mold. Resin is injected into the mold and allowed to cure. This method also produces a smooth surface on both sides of the part.

Rick’s Camaros is your one-stop shop for 1982 Camaro parts. The 1982 Camaro was a Third Generation F-Body Camaro, spanning from years 1982-1992. 1982 included the Z28 Sport Coupe, Z28 Pace Car, Sport Coupe, and Berlinetta Coupe. 1982 marked the first year of the third gen Camaros, with a nearly all-new model, including reduced dimensions and weight, a four-cylinder engine for the Sport Coupe, consoles with glove boxes, power steering, and power brakes with front discs and rear drums. Front bucket seats for all 1982 models had reclining mechanisms for both driver and passenger. The Berlinetta Coupe included custom interior, aluminum wheels, deluxe seatbelts, deluxe luggage compartments, dual horns, special instrumentation, and specific trim. The Z28 Sport Coupe had its own style aluminum wheels, leather-strapped steering wheel, white-letter radial tires, rear spoiler, special instrumentation, and specific trim. For the third time in its history, the Camaro was selected to pace the 1982 Indianapolis 500 auto race. The 1982 model’s rear glass was also the largest of any production car of its era.
