Camaro Steering Box Brace, 1982-1992 Part # 721840
Constructed of 1.25" x .120" DOM Tubing Powdercoated Red Easy Installation, Bolts Between Sway Bar Frame Mounts And Frame Rails This brace is designed to stiffen the front sub-frame and reinforce the steering box mount. It was factory equipemnt on a few rare Iroc-Z and 1LE cars. This area is well known to be problematic on the third generation F cars. The tubular steering brace will not only provide for firmer steering response, but it will prevent the sub-frame stress cracking problem caused by the flex of the steering box. CNC Machined 3/16" Steel Stainless Steel Washers & Nuts Will Work With Fabricated Strut Mounts (P/N 721844) GM used two different mounting bolt patterns on the strut mount retainers for the 1982-1992 F-Body Camaro and Firebird. 1982-1986 cars have one type, 1987-1992 cars have another type. All replacement strut mounts are machined to the 1987-1992 style mounting pattern. If you will be installing replacement strut mounts on a 1982-1986 car, you will need to get these 1987-1992 style retainers.
