Without a dust cover inspection plate or with one that is very worn down, your ring gear is exposed to constant dirt and road debris. Over time, debris and other objects can clog up your flywheel and clutch area, causing premature clutch failure. Clutch failure in your automatic F-Body can be reported from a feeling of your engine racing without your vehicle moving faster, most commonly during gear shifting. This can be confirmed through dark transmission fluid that appears burned. Further strain against your flywheel can lead to accelerated failure, putting you in a dangerous situation. Rick's Camaros offers this flywheel bellhousing dust inspection cover plate, made from stamped steel with a black glossy finish. This reproduction metal plate attaches to the bellhousing and promises to protect the flywheel and clutch from any future road debris. This dust shield will also keep outside debris away from your ring gear and flexplate. You will not have to remove your transmission to apply a new dust cover inspection plate, so installation should be simple and effective.
